My work is currently showing at TAAG Gallery Teignmouth.
This work was inspired by archive film footage, photographs, maps, insignia and aircraft codes which surfaced during my research into the South West WWII Airfields in Exeter and on the Blackdown Hills where I live.
What struck me was the number of different nationalities (Polish, Czech, American, Sri Lankan and more) stationed here, fighting alongside us and involved in key roles during the war. It made me consider the meaning of patriotism and how group loyalties can be benign, positive and devoid of prejudice under certain circumstances but then fragment to become hostile and negative in others.
